F.A.Q.

On this page we can answer most of your questions. If you have a question that isn't answered here just email us at service@eddiesotr.com.

1. How much is Shipping & Handling charges, and how are CDs packaged?

Normal shipping charges to US addresses start at $2.99 per order.  Additional charges over the base rate depend on size of order, and orders placed outside of the US are charged extra.

When you get you're package, the postage is not hidden. You'll see that what you have paid for postage is pretty close to actual charges.

During checkout you will have an option for expedited shipping. We use US Postal Service Priority Mail for expedited shipping.

All of our CDs are shipped in paper CD sleeves, dependingon the size of your order it will either be a padded envelope or small cardboard box. Sometimes we offer custom packaging options, such as a CD binder, etc., if you're order includes special packaging it will be clearly indicated on the page that you order from.

All orders of 3 discs or more will also receive a tracking number via email.

2. How quick will I get my order?

We promise to ship all orders within 48 hours of payment, that even includes weekend orders. However about 95% of our orders ship next day. Depending on a particular days volume, orders rec'd by 10 am EST may even ship same day.

After we ship, your location determines the rest. We're located in Michigan, for continental US orders figure 2-5 days using standard shipping. Expedited shipping is also available to you as an option at checkout.

3. What forms of payment do you accept?

Eddies OTR accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and Paypal. If you would prefer to call in your order, please email us your phone number, and a good time to call. During the Holiday season we maintain a phone line, but during the 'off' or slower time of year' we handle everything by email. But we will call you if requested, not just for orders, but if you need anything else as well. We process our payments through PayPal. You DO NOT need to be a member of, or join PayPal. You simply check out as a PayPal guest. We use them simply because their processing rates are slightly lower than others.

If you prefer not to use standard checkout, you may call in your order and payment will be processed through an independent credit card processor NOT associated with PayPal. As stated above, just email us your phone number and a good time to call.

One plus is that if you do decide to join PayPal, you can use personal checks over the internet. I personally have a PayPal account because of it's convenience, and universal acceptance.

We also welcome Mail Orders, just go through checkout as if you were paying with a credit card. When you get to the payment page you will have the option of paying by credit card or mail order. Click the Mail Order button, and payment instructions will show. PLEASE include a phone number or email with your in mail in order in case we have any questions.

4. Should I get MP3 or Regular Audio CDs?

Please click here to see the differences and advantages of each one. Eddies OTR is proud to sell every show we offer as regular audio CDs as an option. In fact, when you go to add a show to your shopping cart, there is a small box to specify MP3 or Regular Audio CDs. Just to make sure you get exactly what you want.

5. What is the level of quality of the recordings?

Our shows are as good as any available. Please bear in mind that any "defects" or "flaws" in the show are from the source media. While most of the shows available in old time radio are pretty good, some of them were recorded almost 80 years ago, and most "newer" shows were recorded about 55 years ago. The quality and techniques are not what we are accustomed to today. If a show is very bad or excellent, it will be noted in the show description. If nothing is noted, then that means the show is acceptable and enjoyable to listen to. You may ask why we sell shows that we know the quality isn't very good, the reason is for the historical significance of the show, and for fans of that particular show or actor who are happy to have any recordings at all. If you order Regular Audio CDs of a show, we "cherry pick" the best episodes for that CD. That is why you will see some shows on MP3 CDs which could have 15 Regular Audio CDs available, but we only have 10, that's just because we don't want to send out Regular CDs that are not the best of quality.

6. How are the CDs labeled?

This is where Eddies OTR really shines. We only use premium grade, hi gloss, commercial quality discs. Usually the picture you see in the product description is the same artwork that is used on the disc. The artwork our graphic designer uses is relevant to the show in some way, such as an actor of the show, advertising artwork from shows sponsor, or in other ways relevant to the show or it's genre.

If you click on the "Why Buy From Eddie's" tab, you'll see some samples of our discs, along with a further explanation of our production process. Please take the time to look at that section, as we feel our discs are the most well designed and produced available.

If you order regular audio CDs the name and or airdates of the show are on the label as well. Some shows that are short in length, such as "5 Minute Mysteries" have 12 episodes on one disc. In a case such as that, there are too many titles to fit on the disc. They will be labeled as "Episodes 1-12" or "Volume 1, 2, 3, etc.

Due to the nature of oldtime radio, there are some shows that do not have bonafide episode titles or airdates. However these few shows still have great graphic design and eye appeal.

7. Returns and Exchanges

We are more than happy to exchange any disc that is defective. Due to the nature of the products we sell there are no returns for refunds. Please insure your playback device is capable of playing MP3 CD's and DVD's. However we use standard MP3 format, so there usually isn't any problem. MP3 DVD playback is usually a bit more touchy. Audio CD's are guaranteed to work on any CD player. Sound quality varies greatly in old time radio shows, what one person may not like, another would find perfectly acceptable. Our shows are of the best quality that is available, but some shows are VERY old, and not of the quality of todays recording standards. Any burps, skips, static, etc. is inherent to the orignal media and is not grounds for refund. Once an order is placed there are no refunds. There are no refunds for unused portions of Gift Certificates. The balance remaining can be used at any time, and they NEVER expire.

8. What is Eddies OTR Privacy policy?

We will only use your personal information to inform you of updates to shows, and to inform you of upcoming sales and/or coupons. You may opt out of this mailing list at any time. Please keep in mind we usually do 1 or 2 email promotions per month. We don't abuse customers with numerous emails, and as stated earlier, you can easily opt out of these if you wish.

All payment information is through SSL encrypted servers , we do not see any of your payment information. All of that information is not seen or stored by us. We don't know if you paid with Visa, MC, PayPal, etc. All we know is that payment was made and cleared.

9. How do I get coupons?

Please click on the home page of this site, there will be a blue button for signing up. It's well worth your while! When we send out our occasional email it will always have some sort of coupon code, and as our longtime customers know, they're worth your while to use.

10. What if I'm having a problem during checkout or have a question that needs to be answered before I order?

Please email us, and let us know how we can help.

If you feel that we need to talk, please email us with your phone number, and we'll call you right back. During the Holiday season we keep a phone line for customer, but other times of the year we handle all of our customer needs via email.

11. How come all of your shows don't have a listing of the episodes.

Some do, and some don't, and you may be asking yourself why....in the hobby of collecting and listening to old time radio, one of the most contentious topics is the proper naming, or the proper titles of shows. There are a few diligent groups of old time radio researchers and historians who have taken on this task. And within their own ranks many times they cannot agree on the proper title, or airdates of many shows. To avoid conflicts or misinformation we have put the list of episodes on a few shows. Shows that we feel 100% confident that all title and airdate information is 100% accurate. We maintain episode listings in house, and they're pretty accurate. If there is ever a show that you would like the list of episodes, please email us, and we'll send you what we are using as an episode list.

12. I Have an MP3 CD that has repeat episodes

Repeat episodes are very common in old time radio. Sometimes there are episodes for AFRS (Armed Forces Radio Service) that are the same, although slightly different, from episodes aired in the U.S. Sometimes shows just reused the same show. As an example, in the series "Suspense" one show was re-used 7 times! It's just part of the hobby. Regular Audio CDs will not have repeat episodes, just MP3 CDs.

13. Can I buy your discs at a wholesale price?

Yes, if you are a re-seller, or own a store and wish to carry our products please click here. Please be advised that we will not discuss and/or quote any prices unless you supply verification, and meet minimum order requirements. You may have picked up one of our CDs at a retail or gift store, and not even realized it! Because we use commercial CD printers we are able to do 'Private Labeling' for re-sellers.

14. I Just made an order, and I want to order another disc, but don't want to pay SH twice?

No Problem, actually this happens quite a bit. We add new shows to our site, and then an hour after you order, you see something new, or something else you want. We handle this in 2 ways. If we get 2 orders from you on the same day, or will ship the same day, we put 3 brand new 1$bills in order! If you want to order something else within 7 days of a previous order, email us, and we'll send you a coupon code for free SH. Are we swell or what?

15. I have a question that isn't answered here?

You can email us service@eddiesotr.com . We are a regular business and keep regular business hours. We look forward to talking to fellow old time radio collectors.

16. How come your site looks different on my computer at work and my computer at home?

Excellent Question! We design and update this site on a commercial web based system. Depending on what browser you use, our site may show up slightly different, there are 3 main browsers, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple's version, and Google Chrome. We optimize our site for Google Chrome. The reason for this is that we get statistics for what browser is used when someone visits our site. More people visit our site using Google Chrome. It's no big deal, but if you are using Internet Explorer, or Firefox, you may see a font that looks a bit different, or some other minor thing. All information is the same, and nothing of any importance is different. In addition each browser has updates, and not everyone updates their browsers.

Also, Apple has come out with their new line of computers using retina display. That may cause some icons, buttons, etc, to appear a bit fuzzy. We have no control of that until our hosting company makes the necessary adjustments and upgrades.
