Falcon | Old Time Radio

If you're in the mood to listen to a great adventure or detective old time radio show, you're in the right place.

The Adventures of The Falcon will take care of that for you! If you want to know about one of the most misunderstood or confusing old time radio shows, you're still in the right place!

Before the old time radio show Adventures Of The Falcon, there were a couple of books and short stories, and movies, all about The Falcon. The character of the Falcon before the old time radio show was that of an 'unspecified adventurer'. Not quite a hero type good guy, not really a bad guy either. More of a scoundrel if anything!

It was because of the success of the movies though that brought the character of the Falcon to old time radio. Starting on the American Blue Network in 1943. Now that the Falcon was an old time radio character, he got a name, Michael Waring. Between the novels, short stories, and movies the Falcon had gone by other names including Gay Stanhope Falcon.

He also had a specific job as well. In The Adventures Of The Falcon he was a hardboiled insurance investigator, similar in some ways to that other old time radio classic, Yours Truly Johnny Dollar. Now that The Adventures Of The Falcon radio show had a named character, his job became the basis for the plots.

The Falcon had an office and a secretary. In previous books and movies he was a freelancer. However the character never did play a gun for hire type role. The Adventures Of The Falcon lasted on radio for about 10 years, a little off and on, some sponsor and network changes, etc.

Towards the end of the run of The Adventures of The Falcon, Waring even got involved in a little bit of espionage. Initially the role of The Falcon was played by old time radio actor Barry Kroeger, then Les Tremain, George Petrie, and a couple others. That's a lot of changes for a lead role!

Usually each episode of Adventures Of The Falcon started out with a phone call from some beautiful woman, and then the adventure would begin. The episodes usually were a mix of danger, and a touch of romance, maybe a smaller touch of comedy as well.

Each episode of Adventures of The Falcon were just under 30 minutes. All that are left are 90 episodes, and we offer them as a 2 disc MP3 set, or if you prefer, on regular audio CDs. We have 40 different audio CDs available, each with 2 different episodes.

Even though the character, name, job, and everything else about the character The Falcon changed or was varied, depending if it was a book, movie, or old time radio show, it was a great show. Very popular when it aired, it's a favorite of old time radio fans today. There's really nothing bad to say about the old time radio version of The Falcon other than the lead actors changing so many times. But on the good side, everyone who got behind the mic as The Falcon did a fine job.
