What's the big deal about Old Time Radio?
Most people think that only people who grew up listening to old time radio, buy our discs. WRONG!!
The biggest block of listeners and buyers of old time radio shows are in their 40's. We have customers that range from 18-90. OTR (Old Time Radio) listeners regard these shows as an alternative to TV and movies. Not that the Hollywood or TV is going under, it's just that there are times and circumstances where listening to OTR makes a great alternative. You can listen to the shows anywhere, they're very inexpensive to collect, and the shows themselves are great! Radio shows lack the visual dimension of TV and movies, but they more than make up for it with good scriptwriting, acting, and production values.
There are a few things that make listening and collecting old time radio shows more popular than ever........here's just a few.
1. OTR shows don't have the "gross out" factor that a lot of TV shows and movies do. You can still get scared listening to an OTR horror show without seeing somebody's guts falling out, or their head exploding, no nudity either. There's not a single show we sell that you would not feel comfortable listening to with kids around. Sometimes on videos these things make the story flow better. On the other hand, a lot of people think that they use the "gross out" factor to support weak story writing or acting.....who knows? But with old time radio you needn't worry about that.
2. Somewhat mentioned above, people are more often taking note on just how good these stories were, and how good the actors and actresses were.
3. OTR takes us back to a more comfortable time. Not to say you had to be sitting in front of the family radio in the 1940s, most listeners aren't that old anyways. But we feel that those were better times.
4. It's inexpensive, some MP3 CDs have 60 hours of listening for just $5.79. That's quality entertainment for about 10 cents an hour.
5. OTR shows are more readily available. True "collectors" of old time radio shows used to have to sift and listen through spools of reel-to-reel tape, and boxes full of transcription discs to get the shows they wanted. Now you can get sometimes the complete series of shows, all on one CD without all the work. (This is how I got started, I've been a collector for almost 40 years).
6. It's a great connection to our past. Enjoy the show that you, your parents, and grandparents listened to.
7. It's a fantastic family and friends activity. Listen to some great shows with a group, put some shows in the CD player of your car when you're on a trip, and especially during this time of year, you can listen to some of the best old old time radio while you're trimming your tree, wrapping gifts, etc.

Does it have spyware, malware, or viruses? I became an old time radio fan while stationed overseas, listening to broadcasts over the Armed Forces Radio Station. I started my collection by putting a reel to reel tape recorder, with a microphone, next to my radio during AFRS broadcasts. As you can imagine the sound quality wasn't very good! But I became hooked, and over the last 40 years I have collected, bought, and traded until I had quite a sizeable collection. In fact, right now, I would say that Eddies Old Time Radio may have the largest or close to the largest, collection available.
While collecting these great shows I became frustrated with the quality, looks, and business practices of companies that sell old time radio shows. It was then that the light went on in my head to get into this business myself. My goals were to provide the best available quality of shows, on CDs that looked professional, at a reasonable price. I, as do 1000s of my customers feel that those goals have been met. But again, this was only made possible by the people mentioned above. I'll update that list soon.
